History
Four generations of experience within the mushroom industry, the Avello’s take great pride in their products and service. Located in Kennett Square Pennsylvania, the Mushroom Capital of the World they work very closely with many growers, large and small, to help promote the domestic mushroom farming industry.

Over several decades ago, together with his grandfather, father, and two uncles, Rick Avello Sr grew and distributed fresh mushrooms on a large scale. Many say they were ahead of their time with regards to their network of distribution and growers. Rick’s mother owned a pizzeria in town. Spending a lot of time between the farm and the restaurant, he developed an idea for a better quality mushroom for pizza topping than canned mushrooms. Once his father and uncles retired, he decided to try a Quick Blanched Mushroom.

He began this endeavor with used equipment in an old warehouse delivering his product to local pizzerias in a delivery van under a trading name known as Queens Produce. The product took off and he decided to begin selling his product to food distributors. Steady growth over several decades, and involving his son Rick Avello Jr, they now process millions of pounds every year and distribute nationwide.
